May 17.12 - Season is almost here, college players arriving back home
The 3rd season in the Sr. Blaze's short history starts on Tuesday May 22 in Burnaby vs the Bulldogs at 6pm with the Blaze's home opener slated for the following night, Wednesday May 23 vs Coquitlam starting at 7pm at McLeod Field in Langley BC. Coquitlam finished 2nd in the province at last year's BC Senior Championships.

The Blaze are welcoming back several key members of the 2011 squad, such as starting pitcher Jesse Peters who finished 2nd in balloting for the 2011 player of the year behind Leon Boyd of Burnaby (pitcher for the Netherlands National Team) and power hitter Scott Webster.  Scott led the BLaze in several offensive catergories and was a 2nd team PIL all-star. Scott in the preseason in his first 2 games had 3 HR's and will be counted on again in 2012 to provide offense. Other returning players include Corey Parsons, Blake Stewart, Jordan Broatch, Brian Butler, Ryan Eiswerth, Tyler and Shayne Willson, Brooklyn Foster, Brad Ferraro, Trevor Lishanko, Graig Merritt, Joe Germaine, Clayton Howell, Dillon Reynolds, Kyle Prevett and Mike Ellis.  Mike Ellis is currently pitching for Florida International University (NCAA Div 1) and leading the team in innings pitched and strikeouts.  Mike will be joining a strong Blaze starting rotation once FIU has completed their season.  Andrew Bell has also been nominated and will accpept the roll as Sr Blaze Team Captain for 2012.

We are also excited to announce that the following players will be joining the Blaze for their first summer ball season: Devon Stewart, Mike Krische, Devon Olson, Tony Farago (Ontario transfer), Jon and Zach Mihic (2nd brother duo on the Blaze), Ricky Bertrand, Aaron Dick, Ryan Jensen (2007 Milwaukee Brewers draft pick), Kyle Joel, Matt Jones, Karl Malecek, Tyler Barlow, JR Robinson, Jaccob Yousif, Curtis Sawchuk and original Blaze players Scott Nelson and Kevin McLeod.  Kevin is currently playing with NAIA powerhouse Lewis and Clark state and will be playing in the 2012 NAIA World Series.  Devon Stewart in his first NCAA Div 1 season with Canisius University in New York is leading his team in several pitching catergories.  The Blaze are looking forward to having all these new young players join the team over the next several weeks.

Several of the above players may look familiar as most have played on the Premier Blaze teams which have won multiple provincial premier league titles.  All returning players are local lower mainland residents!

This will be an exciting year for the Blaze as they play over 60 games including prestigious tournaments such as the Canada Day Blast in Kelowna over Canada Day and the year end tournament at the Annual Grand Forks International Baseball Tournament.  2012 will be a busy year.
